Abstract

his research aims to determine whether the open unemployment rate, population, city minimum wage, and economic growth have an impact on the labor force participation rate in the Special Region of Yogyakarta from 2013 to 2023. This study employs a quantitative approach using panel data analysis, which is a combination of time series and cross-sectional data. The data used is secondary data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) website. The results of this study show that the open unemployment rate has a negative but insignificant effect on the labor force participation rate, the population has a negative but insignificant effect on the labor force participation rate, the district/city minimum wage has a positive and significant effect on the labor force participation rate, and economic growth has a positive but insignificant effect on the labor force participation rate. In this study, it was found that the open unemployment rate, population, district/city minimum wage, and economic growth can explain 67% of the labor force participation rate, while the remaining 34% is influenced by other factors or variables outside this study.
