Abstract

The Tuban Ring Road, which is a strategic national road along the northern coast of Java, serves as the most viable alternative route to address various challenges. It is expected to stimulate the overall growth of the city, improve vehicle flow, enhance economic growth, and avoid traffic congestion. This goal requires the support of good-quality road pavement. Considering that the Tuban Ring Road will be traversed by vehicles with high traffic volumes and heavy loads, rigid pavement design is highly recommended. The methods used in this study are Bina Marga 2017 and AASHTO 1993, as these are the most commonly applied in road pavement design in Indonesia. Therefore, this study aims to compare the rigid pavement thickness based on the parameters of both methods and the estimated budget costs. The results of this study show that the rigid pavement thickness using the Bina Marga 2017 method is 305 mm, with a 100 mm foundation layer (LMC), a 150 mm drainage layer, and a 150 mm subgrade stabilization layer. Meanwhile, the rigid pavement thickness using the AASHTO 1993 method is 340 mm, with a 100 mm foundation layer (LMC), a 150 mm drainage layer, and a 150 mm subgrade stabilization layer. For reinforcement design, the Bina Marga 2017 method resulted in longitudinal reinforcement Ø12-200 mm and transverse reinforcement Ø12-200 mm, while the AASHTO 1993 method yielded the same results for reinforcement: longitudinal reinforcement Ø12-200 mm and transverse reinforcement Ø12-200 mm. The estimated cost for the Bina Marga 2017 method is IDR 115,713,000,000.00 (One Hundred Fifteen Billion Seven Hundred Thirteen Million Rupiah), while the AASHTO 1993 method amounts to IDR 121,752,000,000.00 (One Hundred Twenty-One Billion Seven Hundred Fifty-Two Million Rupiah). Based on the comparison of the two methods, the most efficient method is the Bina Marga 2017 method, with a total cost of IDR 115,713,000,000.00 (One Hundred Fifteen Billion Seven Hundred Thirteen Million Rupiah).
