Abstract
In recent decades, Korean popular culture or Hallyu has become a significant global phenomenon. Korean films play a key role in strengthening diplomatic relations and introducing Korean cultural values to the Indonesian people. Through this film festival, cooperation in production and screening of films in cinemas and streaming platforms, South Korea has succeeded in attracting the interest of the Indonesian people, increasing cultural understanding, and strengthening diplomatic relations between the two countries. The scope of the research was conducted from 2021 to 2023. 2021 to 2023 is a period in which the film industry, including film festivals, adapts to various challenges caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. This year saw a change in the festival format from physical to virtual or hybrid which had a significant impact on how films were promoted and accessed by audiences. By using public diplomacy theory as a theoretical basis in helping to answer the formulation of the problem. The type of research used is qualitative descriptive research with data collection techniques in the form of library studies from web sites. This study uses a qualitative research method, the researcher will analyze the effort made by the Korean government towards Indonesia through the Film Festival. In the cooperation carried out by Korea and Indonesia through the film sector, of course, there are several obstacles and constraints, one of which is the Covid-19 pandemic. The results of this study explore the strategies used by South Korea to promote its films and the impact of this film diplomacy on the perception of the Indonesian public towards Korean culture, because there is a match between the effort made by South Korea towards Indonesia through film festivals starting from the Government, Immediate strategic publics, and Mass publics.
