Abstract

Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC) Factory from Monomer Vinyl Chloride with Suspension Polymerization Process with a capacity of 70,000 tons/year will be established in the Industrial Area of ​​Warnasari Village, Citangkil District, Cilegon City, Banten. This factory operates 24 hours a day, 330 days a year. The raw material used is Monomer Vinyl Chloride obtained from PT. Asahimas Chemical located in Gunung Sugih Village, Gunung Anyer Street Km.122, Cilegon Industrial Area, Banten. The auxiliary raw material is Poly Vinyl Alcohol obtained from PT. Rudolf Polymers Indonesia and Dilauryl Peroide obtained from PT. Nouryon. The product produced is Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC). PVC can be used in various industries, one of which is the construction industry. In the construction industry itself, its use is very popular as waste and drainage pipes, gutters, cable channels or other building tools that require basic materials such as PVC. The production process used in this factory is the suspension polymerization process. At the raw material preparation stage, the PVC manufacturing process involves several raw materials, namely Dilauroyl Peroxide as an initiator, Polyvinyl Alcohol as a suspension agent, and water as a polymerization medium. Before the reaction begins in the reactor, these supporting materials are mixed in a mixer. Vinyl Chloride monomer and supporting materials are fed into the reactor for the polymerization process. After the polymerization process, PVC will then go through a purification process. PVC that has come out of the reactor is then fed to a stripping column to remove residual VCM. PVC products that have gone through the stripping process will be fed to a centrifuge to separate PVC as the main product from the remaining raw materials. After this process is complete, PVC that has a small water content will be directed to a rotary dryer to remove the remaining water content in the PVC product. PVC products are then stored in a product storage warehouse that has previously been cooled to normal temperature
