Abstract
Regional development is a process where the government, together with the community, manages available resources and forms cooperation between the government and the private sector to create new jobs. The goal of regional development is to improve the region's conditions with the hope that economic growth will increase, community income will rise, and employment opportunities will expand. This study aims to determine the influence of economic growth, wages, and inflation on labor absorption in Sidoarjo Regency and to examine the impact of labor absorption on the GRDP of the basic sectors in Sidoarjo Regency. The study uses a descriptive quantitative approach covering the period from 2012 to 2021. The analysis was conducted using the STATA analysis tool with multiple regression methods. To identify the basic sectors, the Location Quotient (LQ) analysis was used. The results show that Sidoarjo Regency has four basic sectors: the Manufacturing Industry Sector, the Electricity and Gas Supply Sector, the Construction Sector, and the Transportation and Warehousing Sector. Additionally, the study finds that economic growth, wages, and inflation do not have a significant impact on labor absorption in Sidoarjo Regency. However, labor absorption has a positive and significant effect on the GRDP of the basic sectors in Sidoarjo Regency. Keywords: Economic Growth, Wages, Inflation, Labor Absorption, Location Quotient, Basic Sectors
