Abstract
This study focuses on the interpersonal communication of early adult women who experience fatherlessness and have trust issues in building new romantic relationships. The fatherless phenomenon refers to the absence of the father's role in childcare, which can be caused by various factors such as divorce, death, and emotional absence of the father. This condition often leads to the development of trust issues in these individuals. This study aims to determine social penetration in building new romantic relationships. This study uses a qualitative approach using Social Penetration Theory by Irwin Altman and Dalmas Taylor. The data collection technique used is interviews. The results showed that there are differences in the stages of social penetration passed by women who experience fatherlessness, fatherless women tend to only reach the Affective Exchange stage. Trust issues experienced cause difficulties in sharing emotions and trusting partners, which affects the quality of interpersonal relationships. This study provides an understanding of the dynamics of interpersonal communication in fatherless women and the importance of the father's role in child development, as well as the stages that fatherless women go through in social penetration.
