Abstract
CBT is an alternative to mass tourism. CBT involves the community in tourism management with the aim of improving the welfare of local communities, increasing community social interaction, environmental preservation, and the culture of a tourist attraction. Kampung Lawas Maspati is one of the CBTs located in Surabaya City. Kampung Lawas was inaugurated as a community-based historical and cultural tourism village in 2016. After eight years of running, there are interactions between tourists and local communities in tourism activities that have an impact on the socio-culture of the community in Kampung Lawas Maspati. This research aims to find out how community participation in tourism development in Kampung Lawas Maspati and how tourism impacts on the socio-culture of the community in Kampung Lawas Maspati. The methodology used in this research is qualitative and quantitative approaches with interviews, observation, documentation, and questionnaires. From the results of data processing, the community in Kampung Lawas Maspati plays an active role in tourism development through labor and thought, then the existence of tourism in Kampung Lawas Maspati has a positive impact on the socio-culture in Kampung Lawas Maspati. With the active participation of the people of Kampung Lawas Maspati in developing tourism, the people of Kampung Lawas Maspati can feel the positive impact of tourism activities.
