Abstract
The development of communication in the digital era has made things easier for humans in various aspects. The internet provides many accesses with interesting functions to support individuals to communicate more comfortably without the limitations of distance and time. This is also used by deaf people who initially communicate through sign language. This research focuses on the use of the Internet as a communication medium for deaf people at SLB Kemala Bhayangkari 2 Gresik. The research aims to determine the communication behavior of deaf people when adopting the internet. Researchers use qualitative descriptive methods to analyze and describe the internet by deaf people. Data collection was carried out through interviews and observations. The research results found that deaf students were well aware of the existence of the Internet. Based on research data, it is stated that deaf people are familiar with the Internet through their parents. However, the ability to apply it was obtained from friends and the school. Research found that the social media that are most popular and used are WhatsApp and Instagram. However, the adoption process experienced obstacles due to the limitations of deaf people. help students understand the meaning of words, which often cause misunderstandings when communicating in the digital world. The research results also found various impacts received by deaf people when adopting the internet, such as experiencing dependence on the internet
