Abstract
This research examines journalists' perceptions of robot journalism for online news production at Beritajatim.com. The advancement of communication technology, including robot journalism, marks the progress of civilization and brings changes to the work of journalists, who are responsible for disseminating information and controlling the public. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. Informants will be asked questions about the formation of perceptions, including selection, interpretation, and reaction. In-depth interviews will be conducted with selected informants. The interview data will be processed through reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results and discussion of this research show that journalists' perceptions of robot journalism are formed through information from external sources and internal discussions. Journalists are familiar with various artificial intelligence technologies and understand robot journalism, with motivations for its use coming from both personal interest and office encouragement. Ethical journalism becomes an issue in the use of robot journalism; however, this technology does impact journalists' work. The experiences of journalists with robot journalism vary, encompassing both positive and negative aspects. These different perceptions from journalists will be the beginning of changes in culture and human life which will later become the main sign of technological determinism.
