Abstract
This research discusses generation Z's reception of beauty privilege in the people reaction content "Roro Jonggrang" on Dara Sarasvati's TikTok account. The TikTok content broadcast shows Dara Sarasvati wearing a cultural costume like the legendary figure Roro Jonggrang at Prambanan Temple, then Dara Sarasvati becomes the center of attention of the audience and TikTok users because of her beauty. Initially, Dara Sarasvati's goal in creating people reaction content was to introduce Indonesian culture. However, the reality is that this content produces different responses from TikTok users. The tendency of TikTok users who see people reaction content is to focus on Dara Sarasvati's beauty or beauty privilege. Therefore, this research aims to find out how generation Z responds to the concept of beauty privilege which is displayed in the people reaction content. This research uses qualitative research methods and uses reception analysis with the encoding-decoding theory by Stuart Hall. The number of informants in this research was 10 people. The data collection techniques used by researchers are interviews and documentation. The results of this research show that each informant has a different reception. The reception was based on the informants' different backgrounds in terms of education, age, gender, work and social. From the results of interviews conducted by researchers, it was found that 3 informants fell into the Dominant Hegemonic position category. Then 5 informants fell into the Negotiation position category. Meanwhile, the other 2 informants fell into the Opposition position category.
