Abstract

The creative economy plays an important and strategic role in the sustainable development of the business economy. However, the presence of the Covid-19 pandemic has caused 17 creative economy sectors to experience a decline, including in East Java. In response to this, the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy launched the GeKrafs East Java. GeKrafs East Java planning PR programm “NGOPI” (Ngobrol Pintar) creative economy. This research aims to identify and describe how the East Java GeKrafs PR programm “NGOPI” creative economy contributes to community development in East Java. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a constructivist paradigm approach. This research went through four stages: data collection, data condensation, data presentation, and drawing and verifying conclusions. The research results show that the public relations strategy of the East Java “NGOPI” program goes through stages of communication with the creative young generation and is based on the results of social mapping and GIS research, PR program planning for empowering the creative economy, implementation through collaboration and use of social media, as well as evaluation for further improvements. Meanwhile, the community development carried out comprises three empowerment strategy functions: awareness, capacity building, and empowerment. GeKrafs East Java also promotes a green economy and sustainability-driven economics by encouraging creative economy players to implement sustainable business practices.
