Abstract

Competition in the manufacturing industry in Indonesia is getting tougher. By representing good quality then it starts with improvements made by the company in order to encourage increased markets and win the competition. PT. Roman Ceramics International is a company that produces floor ceramics in Indonesia. The company decided that it still found that many Defects had occurred in floor ceramics products. The company had made efforts to minimize the number of Defects. Therefore, research is conducted that aims to reduce Defects by doing Six Sigma method and Kaizen method. Based on the largest accumulative Defect data occurred in April 2019 with a total production of 421.422pcs then the number of Defects was 20.521pcs with a Defect percentage of 18,50%. With the type of Defect that often occurs is Chunk. Based on the analysis of the results obtained, it is obeyed by the Six Sigma method, the company found the results of the DPMO average value of 10.670 which means the sigma level is 3,803 or the same as the indonesia industry average. From the analysis of these results obtained from the analysis of the causes of Defects of the largest type of Defect, Chunk uses a fishbone diagram based on 4 factors, namely man factors, milieu factors, machine factors, and raw material factors. Based on the fishbone diagram, recommendations for improvements using the Kaizen method are recommended by the company asking for a decision analysis to choose a supplier of batch or floor ceramics defect and still have good quality.
