Abstract
Cassava is a type of plant that has many benefits. However, the waste generated from cassava is quite a lot. It is also known that from 100% of cassava plants ready for harvest, only 10% is reused as new plant seeds, while the remaining 90% becomes waste. In this study, the pyrolysis method was used to produce liquid smoke from cassava stems as an anti-termite pesticide, looking for the best time and temperature in the cassava stem pyrolysis process. As much as 300 grams of cassava stems that have been reduced in size are put into the pyrolysis tank. The pyrolysis process is carried out with a duration of 30-90 minutes at a temperature of 250-400 ºC. The resulting smoke then condenses into liquid smoke. Then the resulting liquid smoke is analyzed to determine the levels of acetic acid and phenol. The results of the analysis showed the best conditions with a yield of 15.8808%, phenol content of 1.2370% and acetic acid content of 12.5416% at 400 ºC and 90 minutes
