Abstract
PT. Classic Prima Carpet is a manufacturing company engaged in the carpet production. In the production process, product defects are still found of 8.6% of total production, defects that often occur such as torn, detached, scratched, scuffed, and peeled off which have a major impact on product quality. This study aims to determine the percentage of disability, the main causal factor defects and the resulting impacts/effects, as well as providing appropriate recommendations for improvements to minimize quality problems in solid flooring products in the company This. The proposed method is Six Sigma. The result of this research is defect the most dominating is torn (42.5%), followed by detached defects (20%), scratched (18%), scuffed (12.5%) and exfoliated (12%). The causes of defects in products are caused by human factors, machines, methods, and materials. Based on FMEA known cause of disability with the highest RPN of 140, i.e. less thorough, less careful, less skilled. The recommendations for improvement that can be given are providing training to operators to improve performance and provide performance allowances. keywords : carpet, quality, six sigma
