Abstract

This study presents a preliminary design for an oleamide plant using the amidation of oleic acid and urea. Indonesia has no domestic oleamide production, resulting in increasing import dependence despite growing demand from rubber and polymer industries. Using the discounted method, the projected 2030 demand is 25,376 tons/year, leading to a proposed plant capacity of 30,000 tons/year. Raw materials are available locally, and Karawang Industrial Park is selected for its strategic access to suppliers, transportation, utilities, and labor. Establishing this plant is expected to reduce imports, support national chemical industry development, and create employment opportunities.
