Abstract
Activated charcoal is a charcoal material that has pores with a large surface area so it is often used. The purpose of this experiment is to determine the process of making teak wood powder using H3PO4 activator and titanium dioxide modification. The process used in the manufacture of teak wood powder activated charcoal using the pyrolysis process. Sawdust was weighed with an initial weight ratio of 200 grams, 300 grams and 400 grams. The activation process for activated charcoal from teak wood powder is chemically activated and without activation. In the chemical activation process, activated charcoal obtained from the pyrolysis process is immersed using phosphoric acid activation agent with concentration ratios of 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% and 25%. After the activation process was carried out using phosphoric acid, then modification or addition of titanium dioxide was carried out in a ratio (4:1). This study gave optimum results at an initial weight of 200 grams with a concentration of 15%, the moisture content was 8.75% and the ash content was 15.84%. EDX test results obtained that the chemical components of activated charcoal are charcoal (C) by 22.27% by weight, Oxygen (O) by 33.26% by weight, Aluminum (Al) by 0.93% by weight, Silicon (Si) by 2, 01% by weight, Phosphorus (P) by 3.12% by weight and Titanium (Ti) by 38.4% by weight.
