Abstract
Increased production in fish farming is strongly influenced by feed pellets because of the total production costs, about 60-70% is used for feed costs. The purpose of this research was to identify the reasons for catfish farmers in determining the types of fermented and natural supplementary feeds, as well as to analyze the comparison of fermented and natural feed additives to the production and income of catfish business in Diwek District, Jombang Regency, East Java. The sample breeders were 30 people, selected by the Quota Sampling method. The data analysis method used quantitative descriptive analysis techniques. The results showed that the highest reason for farmers to choose additional fermented feed was because the nutritional content of the feed was higher. The highest reason farmers choose natural supplementary feed is faster fish growth. The average yield of farmers who used natural supplementary feed was 8,854 kg higher than farmers who used fermented supplementary feed of 8,669 kg. The average income of farmers who use additional fermented feed is Rp. 41,864,907 higher than farmers who use additional feed with rejected eggs of Rp. 35,351,480. The value of the R/C Ratio of farmers who use fermented supplementary feed (1.42) is greater than that of farmers who use natural supplementary feed (1.32). This means that the use of fermented feed additives is more profitable than the use of natural supplementary feeds
