Abstract
ABSTRACT Onion (Allium cepa L.) is a horticultural commodity that has potential to be developed because it has high economic value and great export potential. In 2011-2012 the productivity of onion tended to fluctuate from 1,048,934 tons to 893,124 tons. The optimization in increasing the productivity of onions with the addition of manure is known to provide balanced nutrients for plants, improve soil structure and is expected to increase the yield of onion. This study aims to discover the effect of manure in improving the soil physical properties and the production of onions. This study was carried out in Kebuntemu Village, Peterongan Sub-district, Jombang from June to August 2021. The design used was a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with 6 executions and repeated 3 times so that there were 18 experimental units. The execution given were (1) P0 = No treatment (Control), (2) P1 = 10 tons/ha of manure, (3) P2 = 20 tons/ha of manure, (4) P3 = 30 tons/ha of manure, (5) P4 = 40 tons/ha of manure, (6) P5 = 50 tons/ha of manure. Observational data used is the analysis of variance followed by the 5% of honestly significant defference (HSD) test. The results showed that the application of manure at a dose of 50 tons/ha (P5) as a whole showed the best results on the production of onions of the Tajuk variety and the application of manure at various doses did not significantly affect the improvement of the soil physical properties.
