Abstract
Waste Heat Boiler B-1104 is one of the important components contained in the sulfuric acid production unit of the Production Department IIIA PT. Petrokimia Gresik, which functions as a steam generator by utilizing exhaust gas from the SO2 combustion process in the furnace. This tool has a shell and tube type, where the boiler consists of a closed vessel containing demineralized water which is then heated from the outside using exhaust gases from burning SO2 in the furnace. The boiler system consists of a feed water system, a steam system, and a fuel system. The feed water system provides water to the boiler automatically according to steam requirements. In this case the feed is needed as a form of maintenance to prevent damage to the steam system, while the steam system collects and controls steam production in the boiler. In the whole system, steam pressure is regulated using a faucet and monitored by a pressure monitor. The fuel system is all the equipment used to provide fuel to produce the required heat. In the furnace a reaction temperature of 1042℃ is used, where the residual heat of the gas from the formation of SO2 is used as a Boiler Feed Water (BFW) heater. Boiler Feed Water (BFW) from BFW Pump is channeled to the 2nd economizer (E- 1204) for initial heating. BFW comes out of the 2nd economizer (E- 1204) and then flows to the 1st economizer (E-1203) for further heating. Then the BFW enters the Waste Heat Boiler (B-1104) with a pressure of 42 kg/cm2 and an exit temperature of 255℃ to become saturated steam. Then the saturated steam enters the steam superheater (E-1102) with a pressure of 38.2 kg/cm2 and turns into superheated steam with a flow rate of 91.03 tons/hour, a pressure of 35 kg/cm2, and a temperature of 400℃. This steam is channeled to the utility unit to drive the turbine generator in the Production Department IIIA.
