Abstract
This research is based on true events that spread among the mountain climbers who got lost in Semeru Mountain, East Java. Many signs have been provided in every climbing route in order to show the right direction for the climbers so that they will be able to climb in a route that has been determined. However, there are many cases in which the climbers got lost in Semeru mountain. This research was conducted to know about the barriers that made the climbers get lost in Semeru mountain. The researcher used Qualitative Descriptive Analysis method that refers to the data from interview to some informants and also observation in the field. Based on the analysis and discussion, communication barriers that occurred are in the form of physical barrier, psychological barrier, physiological barrier, and framework thinking barrier.
