Abstract
This study aims to describe the impact of conversion of agricultural land into settlements on changes in farmers' income and socio-culture and analyze the factors that influence the conversion of agricultural land in Suko Village, Sukodono District, Sidoarjo Regency, East Java Province. The data used in this research consists of primary and secondary data. Primary data, which is obtained through direct interviews with farmers affected by land conversion with the help of a list of questions, as well as community leaders such as Gapoktan Suko Village and government officials in the Suko Village sub-district. Secondary data, namely data obtained from several related agencies such as the Central Bureau of Statistics of Sidoarjo Regency, Sukodono District Government Office, Suko Village Village Office, and other libraries related to this research as well as literature from books, journals, theses, and thesis. The analytical method used is descriptive analysis and multiple linear regression analysis. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that there were three categories of changes in farmers' income after the conversion of their agricultural land. Based on the data obtained, the category that dominates is the category of respondents who experience an income that tends to increase but is deemed unable to meet their daily needs. Suko Village experienced sociocultural changes among new people and newcomers who occupied settlements resulting from land conversion. Social changes include aspects of individualism, aspects of cohesiveness and mutual cooperation, as well as aspects of the gap between the old residents and the new residents. Then the variables of land ownership, economic crush, the influence of other farmers, the influence of the developer, government policies, job opportunities in other sectors, simultaneously affect land conversion. The variables of land ownership, economic crush, the influence of the developer and job opportunities in other sectors partially affect the land conversion in Suko Village. Meanwhile, the influence of other farmers and government policies partially has no effect on land conversion in Suko Village. Keywords: Conversion, Social, Culture, Income, Suko Village
