Abstract
Broiler has an important role in livestock sub-sector, because it has great potential with the increase of chicken meat consumption every year, but has complex problems from internal and external causing risk and uncertainty. This study aims to identify the sources of risk, calculate the risk, and develop strategies that can be applied to control the most decisive source of risk in the broiler business in Mojokerto district. The population in this study is broiler breeders in Mojokerto district. Sampling method is done by proportional random sampling and the number of samples that are considered representative of the population is 36 respondents. The results of the analysis based on the fish bone diagram identified 17 sources of risk which are divided into six production risks, six marketing risks, and five financial risks. The result of analysis with failure mode and effect analysis shows the highest risk priority number result 576 profit depend on target performance index, then consecutive value of risk priority number 567 disease attack, 504 death of chicken make productivity decrease, 450 product sold in life forms, 441 the fear of borrowing from banks. Breeders need to strengthen farmer institutions through village-owned enterprises in the form of broiler processing, and micro finance institutions.
