Abstract

ABSTRACT This research aims to explain Afghanistan's compliance with the Taliban regime with CEDAW in 2020-2022. The theory used in this research is the theory put forward by Ronald B. Mitchell to look at indicators of Afghanistan's compliance with CEDAW through indicators of outputs, outcomes and impacts. After looking at Afghanistan's compliance indicators, the next step is to categorize Afghanistan's compliance, namely treaty induced compliance, coincidental compliance, good faith non-compliance, and intentional non-compliance. This research is explanatory research by collecting secondary data obtained from internet searches through books, journals and websites. CEDAW is a convention that discusses the elimination of all forms of discrimination against women. As a country that has ratified CEDAW, Afghanistan is obliged to comply with and eliminate all forms of discrimination against women in every aspect of life. The results found in this research are that Afghanistan's category of compliance with the Taliban regime is intentional non-compliance, which means that Afghanistan in the Taliban regime is unable to comply with the principles of CEDAW. Intentional non-compliance occurs when the resulting outputs, outcomes and impacts are not optimal. Keywords: Afghanistan, Compliance, CEDAW
