Abstract
Sodium Bicarbonate Factory from Sodium Carbonate and Carbon Dioxide using the Neutralization Process with a capacity of 80,000 tons/year, is planned will be established in the Manyar area, Gresik Regency, East Java to be precise Java Integrated Industrial and Ports Estate (JIIPE) Industrial Zone. In detergent industry, Sodium Bicarbonate is used as the main ingredient in detergent manufacture. Apart from that, Sodium Bicarbonate can also be used as Raw materials are mainly used in the manufacture of antacids in the pharmaceutical industry. This factory will operate 330 days a year. The brief process for making sodium bicarbonate starts with reacting the raw materials sodium carbonate and carbon dioxide in the reactor. Reaction Conditions at a temperature of 40°C with a pressure of 3 atm. The top yield from the reactor is sodium bicarbonate is fed to the rotary drum vacuum filter for reduce the water content, then continue using a screw conveyor towards rotary dryer until dry solid sodium bicarbonate is obtained. Air containing Sodium Bicarbonate solid products are collected using cyclone and hot air is thrown into the free air. Then Sodium solids Bicarbonate continues to the cooling conveyor to be cooled until temperature of 30°C and then taken by bucket elevator to the ball mill for finely ground to 100 mesh. After that, it is fed to the storage silo as the final product, Sodium Bicarbonate is then packaged in packaging 50 kg sacks and then marketed.
