Abstract
Bioplastics are plastics that can be usedelike conventional plastics but bioplastics are easily decomposed naturally by microorganisms. Bioplastics can be developed by utilizing natural resources, one of which is by developing starch, because starch easily decomposes naturally and is abundantly available. In general, raw black potato tubers per 100 g contain high carbohydrates, namely around 83% with amylose content of 32.31% and amylopectin of 52.56%. The starch content found in black potatoes can be processed into useful products such as bioplastics to replace conventional plastics. The purpose of this study was to determine the bioplastic characteristics of black potato starch and microcrystalline cellulose. The research method used was black potato starch gelatinization with the addition of microcrystalline cellulose and glycerol with certain variables. The bioplastics produced will be tested for their tensile strength, elongation, and water absorption.Laboratory test results obtained showed thatthe best bioplasticsfor plastic packaging were bioplastics with a composition of 1 gram of starch, 1 gram of cellulose and 0.5 ml ofeglycerol, the results of which were also in accordance with the Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS)
