Abstract
Moringa (Moringa oleifera L.) is a plant that is cultivated as a source of vegetable oil, known as Moringa oil, which is obtained from its seed extract. Based on previous research, the maceration method was used to obtain Moringa oil and other methods need to be used besides using the maceration method to increase the oil obtained, namely by using a stirred tank. So it is hoped that the yield obtained will be greater than using the maceration method. Therefore, researchers tried to conduct research with the title "Optimization of Moringa Seed Oil Extraction Using a Stirred Tank. This research has the aim of finding the highest levels of Moringa seed oil in extraction using a stirred tank using hexane solvent and looking for optimization of the extraction process in a stirred tank using the CAMP number. It is hoped that this research will have the benefit of being able to find out alternatives for processing Moringa seeds into a more economical product and can increase public knowledge about the usefulness and economic value of processed Moringa seed oil. The research method we use in this process is extraction using a stirred tank with N-hexane solvent. The extraction process aims to separate oil from Moringa seeds to obtain oil by adding N-hexane solvent. The ratio of the number of Moringa seeds and N-hexane solvent in each sample was 1:8. Where the amount of Moringa seeds is 50 grams and the N-hexane solvent is 400 ml. The variables used are stirring speed (rpm) of 300, 350, 400, 450, and 500. And stirring time (minutes) of 50, 70, 90, 110, and 130. The extraction results are then filtered to separate the Moringa seed dregs from the filtrate. Then the filtrate is subjected to a distillation process to separate the solvent from pure Moringa oil to calculate the yield and calculate the optimization CAMP number. Then analyze pure Moringa oil from the CAMP number optimization results. There are influences in this research that are interconnected, namely stirring speed and extraction time which can be applied in CAMP numbers so that optimal results can be obtained. The optimum CAMP number ranges from 14.61 x 106 to 15.75 x 106 with a yield of 36.92%
