Abstract
Sesame (Sesamum indicum L) is cultivated as a source of vegetable oil, known as sesame oil, which is obtained from its seed extract. Based on data from the central statistics agency, the need for sesame oil in Indonesia continues to increase every year. Based on previous research, it is necessary to use other methods besides using the pressing method to increase the oil obtained, namely by using a stirred tank. So it is hoped that the yield obtained will be greater than using the pressing method. Therefore, researchers tried to conduct research with the title "Optimization of Sesame Seed Oil Extraction Using N-Hexane Solvent in a Stirred Tank". This research aims to determine the optimization of the extraction process in a stirred tank using the CAMP number. The method used is extraction using a stirred tank using N-hexane solvent. The ratio of the amount of sesame seeds and Nhexane solvent in each sample is 1:5. Where the amount of sesame seeds is 80 grams and the N-hexane solvent is 400 ml. The variables used are stirring speed (rpm) of 100, 200, 300, 400, 500. And stirring time (minutes) of 20, 40, 60, 80, 100. The extraction results are then filtered to separate the sesame seed dregs from the filtrate. Then the filtrate is subjected to a distillation process to separate the solvent from pure sesame oil to calculate the yield and calculate the optimization CAMP number. Then analyze pure sesame oil from the CAMP number optimization results. The optimum CAMP number ranges from 10.06 x 10^6 to 11.67 x 10^6 with a yield of 49.5%
