Abstract
PT. Selatan Jadi Jaya is a company that produces lead acid batteries for Automotive Mobile Battery. During production, problems often arise, namely the level of product defects is quite high. These defects appear more frequently in the process burning among others defect Melted Tin, defect Burnt Connector, defect Plate Bent, and defect Torn Separator. The aim of this research is to find out the percentage defect most frequently occurring and causal factors defect as well as providing suggestions for improving battery quality. Based on the problems above, quality control analysis can use methods, namely methods Seven Tools and repair efforts using Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA). Based on the results of research on Seven Tools that the dominant defect is Burnt Connector with a percentage of (33%), then followed Plate Bent at (26%), then melted tin at (24%), and torn separator at (17%). Based on research results Failure Mode and Effect Analysis It is known that the highest RPN value is 200 at defect melted tin with the cause of failure due to an error when the worker set the fire too high. The recommended improvement for this problem is to regulate the size of the fire according to established procedures before welding.
