Abstract
The national soybean demand reached 4 million tons in the past, but domestic production only met 1/16 of that demand. The increasing domestic soybean demand, coupled with decreasing national soybean production each year, led to Indonesia's dependence on imports. There were numerous issues with the soybean commodity that resulted in the weak competitiveness of Indonesian soybeans in the international market. However, several soybean production centers showed that soybean cultivation was still viable for development. This research aimed to analyze the development, competitiveness level, and efforts to enhance the competitiveness of Indonesian soybean commodities. The research findings indicated that 1) Indonesian soybean commodities were gradually developing, albeit slowly; 2) The RCA value was less than 1, indicating that Indonesian soybeans lacked competitiveness or had weak competitiveness; 3) Attempts to increase soybean competitiveness could be divided into two categories: by soybean producers and the government. Soybean producers strived to continuously develop soybeans, improve the functions and roles of farmer groups (Gapoktan), and farmer cooperative groups (KOPTI). The government could make efforts to increase the planted area and production, provide output subsidies to producers, implement import quota policies, and adopt an import quota system that aligned with domestic soybean production levels. Keywords : Soybean, Competitiveness, RCA
