Abstract

The main problem that Entisols have is the need for nitrogen nutrient availability. Sand texture type causes N loss in entisol. This study aims to assess changes in soil chemical properties, especially the availability of N in entisols due to the dosing of vermicompost and biochar to increase productivity and quality in the production of cayenne pepper plants. This research was designed using a Factorial Randomized Group Design consisting of two factors, the first factor is vermicompost (K) with a dose of 0 tons.ha-1 (K0), 10 tons.ha-1 (K1), 20 tons.ha-1 (K2), and 30 tons.ha-1 (K3). The second factor is rice husk biochar (B) with a dose of 0 tons.ha-1 (B0), 10 tons.ha-1 (B1), 20 tons.ha-1 (B2), and 30 tons.ha-1 (B3) repeated three times. The results of this study showed that the combination of vermicompost and biochar had a significant effect on the availability of NH4+ at the age of 90 HST, the highest in the K3B0 treatment which was 275.92 ppm and the combination of vermicompost and biochar treatment had a significant effect on the production of cayenne pepper plants with the highest weight of 106.84 g.10kg-1 in the K1B0 treatment.
