Abstract
Guava plant (Psidium guajava) is a horticultural plant that is widely cultivated by Indonesian people. This fruit, which is rich in medicinal properties, is widely known as a fruit that is much liked by the public and is a fruit commodity with quite high economic value. According to BPS data (2021) it shows that the amount of guava production in East Java Province has increased from year to year. In 2017 the total production was only 332,444 quintals, until 2018 the total production experienced a significant increase reaching 460,732 quintals and is predicted to increase again in 2020 to 886,182 quintals. The success factors in increasing production rates include proper care and planting techniques for guava, good soil management can make plants grow optimally. However, by looking at some of the proper cultivation techniques there are obstacles. These obstacles are the emergence of several disturbing plants such as weeds, as well as the emergence of several pests and diseases in guava plants. The purpose of this study is expected to provide information about the diversity and role of insects in crystal guava plants. This research was carried out in the crystal guava plantation area in Mount Anyar Kidul, Surabaya. This research was conducted in March-June 2023. The method used in this research is the survey or roaming method. Sampling data was collected by direct observation (visual control), yellow sticky traps, pitfall traps and methyl eugenol traps. Observation parameters include: insect identification, species diversity index, dominance index, evenness index. The results of this study found a population of 3736 insects consisting of 6 orders (Diptera Hemiptera, Hymenoptera, Coleoptera, Lepidoptera, Aranae), 13 families (Polleniade, Tephritiade, Dolichopodidae, Flatidae, Corediae, Pseudococcidae, Crabroniade, Apidae, Formicidae, Coccineliidae, Staphylinidae, Nymphalidae, Ageleniade). The results of the calculation of the diversity index on the crystal guava plant show the number 1.71 which is included in the medium category. Calculation of the domination index in crystal guava plantations shows the number 0.26 which is included in the low category. The species closeness value shows the number 0.60 which is included in the unstable community category.
