Abstract
According to Animal Defender Indonesia, there has been an increase in cases of violence against animals in 2020-2021. In 2020, around 20 cases of violence against animals were received, while in 2021, cases of violence against animals increased to 30 cases. Of the 50 cases of violence against animals handled by the Airlangga University veterinary forensic team, the violence was dominated by cats and dogs. Indonesian people tend to be permissive towards cases of violence against animals. Based on the results of research conducted by the SMAC (Social Media Animal Coalition) in 2020-2021, the research stated that out of 5480 videos found from social media such as Tiktok, Youtube, and Facebook, 1626 videos of them came from Indonesia, even though Indonesia already has laws governing animal welfare, the weak criminal acts given and the lack of education and information in the community can certainly be a factor in the lack of public awareness of animal welfare. So we need media that can attract youth as agents of change to make them aware that street animals are also part of our lives. In designing this digital comic, data collection used qualitative and quantitative data collection methods. The qualitative method was carried out by conducting interviews with Drh. Prof. with a target respondent of 90 people. The analysis technique used in the design is descriptive qualitative and quantitative. Based on the results of the analysis obtained, the keywords obtained are "Heroic Actions in Animals" the meaning of designing comics that will provide directions or examples of actions that reflect the value of the Five Freedoms of Animal Welfare. With this design, it is hoped that it will be able to make teenagers aware that street animals are part of our lives and deserve to be protected and cared for as well as possible. As well as spreading kindness, starting with themself and inviting friends or the closest community to be more aware of the welfare of street animals.h Keywords: Animal Welfare, Comic, Street Animals
