Abstract
Indonesia is a country with a majority population of Muslims. Along with developments in the current era of globalization, all moving and changing fields are increasingly fast and competitive, including systems education. Often the design of buildings pays little attention to the provisions of nature, so it is necessary to develop the concept of "hablum minal'alam" by managing nature and the environment by initiating ecological schools. Pasuruan Regency has a Muslim population of 98.23%. The number of Islamic boarding schools in Pasuruan Regency shows public interest in the Islamic education system with dormitories. Regency Pasuruan itself does not yet have an education-oriented forum on nature and the environment, especially at the high school level whose education is a boarding school. Through Islamic Boarding Schools whose design pays attention to ecological aspects, It is hoped that an Islamic Boarding School will be created that pays attention to the environment around to create buildings that are adaptive to nature and protect the surrounding ecosystem. In designing an Islamic Boarding School in Pasuruan Regency Using the Ecological Architecture Approach, an analysis of facts, issues, and goals regarding site conditions, so the theme “Islamic Learning Environment based on Nature” was chosen. The theme implies an Islamic learning environment based on nature. There is an Islamic Boarding School with an ecological architectural approach that becomes a platform for Islamic and nature-based education in Pasuruan Regency. To support this theme, the approach was chosen ecological architectural method by applying four principles, including Appropriate site development, Energy efficiency and conservation, Water conservation, and Indoor health and comfort in the design.
