Abstract
This study aims to analyze the domination and negotiation in the production of the documentary film “Di Balik Awan Tengger”. The film discusses the Tawur Agung Kesanga ceremony of the Tengger tribe as an effort to preserve Indonesian culture and maintain the existence of the ceremony itself. Method applied for this research was qualitative research method using site of production perspective . This study depicts that in the production of the documentary film “Di Balik Awan Tengger, there was negotiation and domination occurred from pre-production, production and post-production. Domination and negotiation can be seen in the creative process, such as the selection of visual effects, sources, locations and so on. The creative process in the production of the documentary film “Di Balik Awan Tengger” creates subjective truth. In documentary films, there is no absolute truth.
