Abstract
The phenomenon of vlogs or blog videos is rife on Youtube channels. Youtube as a contemporary media offers a variety of entertainment options that are not offered by television media. Vlogs have their own uniqueness in offering the daily reality of the subject or vlogger that seems to be displayed naturally without engineering. The 2017 Abis Gokil Youtube channel offers daily vlogs of Indonesian Workers (TKI) who work in South Korea. It is interesting to research further about how the visual vlog Gokil Abis works in building visual closeness with the audience. Through the grounded theory method, visual analysis will be juxtaposed with several theories of hyperreality. The hyperreality building of the Gokil Abis vlog in order to build closeness to the audience is carried out by means of visual simulations with point-of-view games and the selection of a distinctive language of conversation. It is hoped that this research will be able to provide enrichment related to the discourse of hyperreality in the study of visual media and culture. Keywords: vlog, youtube, hyperreality, Gokil Abis
