Abstract

Spodoptera exigua Hubner (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) is the main pest of shallots that can cause up to 100% damage if no control is carried out. Streptomyces sp. is a soil Actinomycetes bacterium that can be used to control S. exigua. The purpose of this study was to determine the potential of Streptomyces spp. isolates from shallot fields as an entomopathogen of S. exigua using a Completely Randomized Factorial Design (RALF). The first factor was Streptomyces spp isolate obtained from Pare - Kediri (BMP) and 3 isolates from Sidera-Palu (BMS1, BMS2, and BMS3). The second factor is the concentration of Streptomyces spp. The concentrations applied were 0% (control), 5%, 10%, and 15%. Data collected was then processed using Ms. Exel with ANOVA and 5% DMRT for the follow-up test. Results showed that Streptomyces sp. from Sidera 1 with 15% concentration and Pare with 15% respectively had the highest mortality of 80.00% and 76.67% with the lowest damage intensity of 13.33% and 20.00% compared to the isolates of Sidera 2 and Sidera 3.
