Abstract
Planting local rice using the polybag system requires the right planting medium because the growth of rice in polybags depends on the planting medium. The need for nutrients is not only fulfilled by planting media, but also requires liquid organic fertilizer (POC) to meet nutrition for local rice plants. This study aims to determine the effect of growing media and the concentration of the best liquid organic fertilizer on the development of local rice cultivation planted with the polybag system. This research was conducted at the Climatology Station, Faculty of Agriculture, Gunung Anyar "Veteran" National Development University, Surabaya, East Java, since May 2022 to August 2022. This research was a factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) experiment, namely the first factor: type of media planting, includes; (1) soil + husk charcoal; (2) soil + bamboo humus; and (3) soil + cocopeat in which all media have a ratio of 2:1. The second factor: various concentrations of commercial Liquid Organic Fertilizer (POC); (1) 9 ml/l water; (2) 12 ml/l water; and (3) 15 ml/l water. There was an interaction in the combination of soil + cocopeat growing media and 15 ml/l POC concentration on the root length of local rice plants. There was an effect on the treatment of soil + cocopeat growing media on the parameters of plant length aged 48-55 DAP, the weight of 100 harvested dry seeds and the weight of 100 dry ground seeds of local rice plants. There was an effect on the treatment of 15 ml/l POC concentration on leaf width parameters aged 20-41 DAP, number of tillers aged 41-55 DAP, number of productive tillers and number of panicles per hill and number of rice seeds per panicle of local rice plants.
