Abstract
Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is a staple food for Indonesian people to meet their daily needs. One type of local rice is Mentik Susu rice from Klaten. The population of Mentik Susu rice is still low because it is unrivaled by the presence of commercial rice. Preservation of local varieties, especially Mentik Susu rice, can be carried out without having to compete with commercial rice in terms of land use, namely by cultivating rice plants hydroponically. The slope of the installation in the hydroponic system used and the size of the planting hole is one of the determinants in the success of hydroponic cultivation. The aim of the study was to determine the most appropriate slope of the installation and the size of the planting hole for the growth and yield of rice plants. The research was carried out at the Experimental Field of the Faculty of Agriculture UPN "Veteran" East Java. The experimental design used was a split plot design (RPT) which consisted of two factors and was repeated three times. The main plot is the slope of the installation which consists of 3 levels, namely N1 = System DFT 0%; N2= NFT System 3%; N3= 5% NFT system. Subplots are the different sizes of planting holes which consist of 3 levels, namely L1 = Planting Hole Size 5 cm; L2= Planting hole size 7.5 cm; L3 = Planting Hole Size 10 cm. The results showed that there was no interaction between the treatment of the slope of the installation and the size of the planting hole on the growth and yield of rice plants. The slope of 0% installation has a significant effect on root length. The size of the 10 cm planting hole has a significant effect on the number of leaves and the number of tillers per clump.
