Abstract
Parents have an important role in child character formation. But due to the demands of the economy, parents' attendance is becoming increasingly rare as it has to work to meet the needs of families. This is also true for rural communities, especially for families of migrant workers. The low interaction makes the relationship between parent and child narrow. Even the child is also threatened with losing his or her right to education and affections from his or her parents. This phenomenon was captured by Bukalapak on his advertisement of the "Berkawan dengan Zaman" edition. This study is a qualitative descriptive study using Roland Barthes' semiotic theory to uncover denotations, connotations and myths in advertising. The interesting thing in this study is that although rarely met, the families of migrant workers still have close familial ties illustrated through mother-child relationships.
