Abstract
Mangrove forest in Jenu District plays an important role in supporting land and water conservation, which may help people daily life. Therefore, its existence should be sustainably preserved. In order to manage the sustainable mangrove forest there must be a particular research to find out perception and behaviors towards the preservation of the mangrove forest. The study aims to identify the condition of mangrove forests in Jenu District, Tuban Regency. In addition, it also describes the perceptions and behavior of the people in the preservation of mangrove forests. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The research location is Jenu district, Tuban Regency which was chosen because Jenu district is the district that has the most extensive mangrove forest in Tuban Regency and has the potential to be developed in a sustainable use. The results showed that the condition of mangrove forests in Jenu District In general, the management was centered at the "Mangrove Center Tuban (MCT)" which carried out mangrove conservation and rehabilitation activities and utilized mangrove forests for research, education, scientific development and tourism objects. The conclusion of this study is the perception and behavior of the community in the preservation of mangrove forests in Jenu Sub-District, Tuban Regency economically and technically / ecologically has a positive impact supporting efforts to conserve mangrove forests.
