The phenomenon that occurs in Mojokerto City is the increasing traffic volume due to the dominance of private vehicles by students. The use of school buses as a safe and environmentally friendly alternative mode is still not optimal even though it has been provided by the government. This study aims to identify student characteristics and trips to school, analyze student preferences for school bus service attributes, and examine the factors that influence interest in using this mode. The research method used in this study is a quantitative descriptive method and the analysis techniques used are Crosstab analysis and Conjoint analysis. From the results of the Crosstab analysis, it was found that differences in the number of vehicle ownership significantly affect students' willingness to use school buses. Therefore, it is necessary to realize school bus services that are in accordance with student preferences. The results of the Conjoint analysis show that the expected attributes of school bus services according to student preferences are comfort and safety need to be improved, reliability (departure time) is maintained, free fares, fixed route affordability, and improved travel time. The importance of attributes according to student preferences, in order, is cost (19.449%), comfort (18.554%), travel time (16.839%), reliability (15.690%), safety (14.941%), and route accessibility (14.527%). Cost, comfort, and travel time should be prioritized in improving school bus services. This study serves as the basis for developing more effective, efficient, and sustainable student transportation policies and supports the reduction of private vehicle use among students in Mojokerto City.
