Abstract
The typeface design with the Matangan Mosque ornament is not only a communication system but also an integral part of the product structure. In the future, the typeface design can be applied to visual communication media, such as the typical Jepara gift packaging design, t-shirt screen printing design, and the Sign System, all of which are able to support religious tourism at the Jepara Mantingan Mosque. The purpose of this research is to design, realize, and promote a typeface design based on the Mantingan Mosque ornament as a product structure in an effort to support religious tourism at the Mantingan Mosque in Jepara. The research method is through the stages of Problem Identification, Formulation of alternative solutions offered, Implementation and Development, Case Studies and Creative Media Trials, Evaluation of results and Finishing, Conclusions and Suggestions. The visual concept of this typeface design is obtained from the results of research conducted on respondents who are engaged in the design field. Then the typeface is designed on a digital basis which is packaged into a font pack with the name “Mantingan Font.otf” format which can be installed and used on a PC (Personal Computer). The designed typeface is then socialized to partners (Mantingan mosque administrators) to be further developed in the form of an application on the media sign system. Keywords: Typeface, Mantingan Font, Mantingan Mosque
