Abstract
Bali is one of the islands that is famous for being a tourist destination with the main purpose of traveling on the island of Bali, namely to enjoy its natural beauty. The diversity of tourism activities on the island of Bali is well known both domestically and abroad. But sometimes with the many kinds of tours on the island of Bali, tourists who are especially first-time visitors need guidance on the tourist attractions they want to visit while on the island of Bali. But for some tourists, especially backpackers, backpackers are known to explore many tourist attractions independently and freely and with the lowest possible budget. Referring to this statement and the decline in tourist visits on the island of Bali due to the effects of the covid-19 pandemic, the author wants to help with this problem by developing a Geographic Information System for Smart Backpacker Travel Recommendations Using the Haversine Formula. This android application can help tourists travel from registration to tour guidance. The application of the haversine formula in the application has a similarity of up to 88% with the distance output from the Google Maps API. These results are used as a recommendation feature for choosing tourist attractions by displaying the distance between tourist attractions and the previous backpacker's choice of place.
