Abstract
In today's business environment, high productivity is obtained by considering the activity of converting raw materials into finished goods. The workforce or workers as the main support for the running of the industry are very vulnerable to health risks and occupational hazards. Many factors cause work accidents in companies, one of which is human negligence. Lack of attention and non-execution of occupational safety and health (K3) procedures by employees are the main problems. This research was conducted with the aim of identifying the potential for work accidents in the production process and providing suggestions for improvements to improve the safety culture of the company. The Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) method was proposed in this study to identify the potential for work accidents using a Likert scale, then determine the risk assessment severity, frequency value, risking rating number (RRN), hazard risk index, and risk priorities. The results show the risk of danger obtained, namely the worker's hand is hit by a sharp angle from the plate, splashed by the cutter's blade, the worker's hand is cut by the chisel, the worker's hand is rolled up by the milling machine chisel, and the worker is injured by the sharp side. Improvements to the production line using measurements of warehouse layout and use of material handling based on the general standardization of Indonesian companies are proposed. Structuring production machines more effectively and efficiently, providing lighting and air ventilation in the production room, placing employees to work according to age, conducting regular training to all employees regarding the importance of K3 to minimize work accidents.
