Abstract
Bat Guano is an organic material sourced from bat and seabird droppings and can be used as fertilizer. Central Java province is the largest guano deposit which can reach 10 million tons/year. This creates a new problem in the form of bat guano that accumulates without any processing in this area. So it is necessary to process guano, one of which can be used as struvite. The purpose of this study was to obtain struvite as a fertilizer raw material by utilizing a source of NH4+ and PO43- ions from guano bat waste. This research was carried out with an air flow rate of 0.5 L/min with a temperature variation of 20.25.30.350C and a pH variation of 8.9.10.11. The optimum conditions for the formation of struvite are at room temperature and at a pH of about 8-9. The best results obtained in this study were at a temperature of 300C and pH 9. The XRD results showed a peak in struvite and the SEM results on the tested crystals were in the form of spherical particles.
