Abstract
The batik industry is classified as an industrial in large quantities and dangerous. One of the wastes produced is waste liquid containing chromium ion (Cr6+). The waste liquid that is released is very cloudy, colored, and has rotten management that caused serious problems to water bodies, communities, and the environment. Waste without special treatment is discharged into the environment. So that the ion exchange method can reduce environmental pollution due to batik industry waste. This study aims to determine the effect of resin in reducing chromium ion content in batik industrial wastewater by using ion exchange method. Namely by using two operating conditions that were varied, namely the weight of the resin (40, 60, 80, 100, and 120 grams) and the stirring speed (150, 175, 200, 225, and 250 rpm). The positively charged chromium ions will exchange with H+ ions found in the dowex resin. So that the chromium content in batik wastewater can be reduced. These results were obtained from the stirring speed and the weight of the resin used. The highest decrease in chromium ion content occurred at a stirrer speed of 250 rpm with a resin weight of 120 grams of 97.86%.
