Abstract
Economic development in a country cannot be separated from economic growth, because economic growth is an important aspect used to determine the success of a country. One of the factors that can affect the size of economic growth is savings or investment. Students are expected to be pioneers in increasing savings ownership. Not every student can carry out saving activities well every month, because considering the high consumption pattern of students. Awareness in saving needs to be grown, because saving can provide benefits for both individuals and economic growth. This study aims to determine the effect of financial literacy on saving behavior with self-control as a mediating variable in undergraduate students of FEB UPN "Veteran" East Java. The research uses quantitative methods. The population of this research is S1 FEB UPN "Veteran" East Java students (odd year 2021) totaling 3,841 students. The sample used was 98 students, using proportionate stratified random sampling technique. Data collection techniques were carried out by distributing questionnaires, which were then analyzed using SEM Partial Least Square (PLS). The results showed that: (1) Financial literacy had an insignificant effect on saving behavior, (2) Financial literacy had a positive and significant effect on self-control, (3) Self-control had a positive and significant effect on saving behavior, and (4) Self-control was able to acts as a mediating variable.
