Abstract
STREETWEAR SEBAGAI IDENTITAS BUDAYA MASYARAKAT URBAN (Studi Deskriptif Kualitatif Identitas Budaya pada Remaja Pengguna Streetwear di Kota Surabaya) Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh fenomena Fashion streetwear yang merupakan sebuah mode atau gaya berpakaian khas fashion jalanan, yang tumbuh dan berkembang dengan mengadopsi berbagai kebudayaan jalanan di dalamnya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif, dengan menggunakan teori Komunikasi Tentang Identitas oleh Michael Hecht, yang mendikotomikan sejumlah informan kedalam tiga tingkatan di dalam sebuah proses pembentukan identitas sehubungan dengan penggunaan fashion streetwear sebagai gaya keseharian mereka, diantaranya : Personal Layer, Enactment Layer dan Communal Layer. Penggolongan tersebut tentunya diukur melalui berbagai pernyataan informan berdasarkan hasil wawancara mendalam (in depth interview) terkait dengan identitas budaya yang direpresentasikan melalui penggunaan fashion streetwear di dalam gaya keseharian mereka sebagai masyarakat urban. Kata Kunci : Fashion, Streetwear, Remaja, Identitas STREETWEAR AS CULTURAL IDENTITY OF URBAN COMMUNITY (Descriptive Qualitative Study of Cultural Identity on Teenage Streetwear User in Surabaya) This research is motivated by Fashion Streetwear phenomenon which is a fashion or style of dress typical of street fashion, which grow and develop by adopting various street culture in it. This research uses descriptive method with qualitative approach, using Michael Hecht's Communication Identity theory, which dictates a number of informants into three levels in a process of identity formation with respect to the use of fashion streetwear as their daily style, including: Personal Layer, Enactment Layer and Communal Layer. The classification is certainly measured through various informant statements based on in-depth interviews related to the cultural identity represented by the use of fashion streetwear in their daily style as an urban society.
