Abstract
ABSTRACT The Environmental situation throughout the farm site has a negative impact due to cow and goat dung waste. Dung waste is one of the types of a waste generated from animal farming activities. The waste itself plays a big role in terms of pollution since the dung waste leads to an environmental issue that interferes with the comfort of living for people around the farm, the disturbance is the result from the execrable odors caused by gases, namely Ammonia gas (NH3) and Hydrogen Sulfide Gas (H2S). The composting procedure of dung naturally takes a really long age but, in the meantime, the dung will pile up and disrupt all activities around the affected area, so to cope with this issue, the earthworm's utilisation as a natural decomposer and to expedite the maturation in the composting process (Vermicompost) is a right decision. This study aims to determine the difference in quality and efficiency of various types of earthworms in the process of media decomposition and to verify the vermicompost quality of the dung livestock as the raw material meets the standardization of the organic fertilizer. The method used in this study is a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) Factorial. One of the primary factors is the type of dung, namely cow and goat dung. The other factor is the earthworm’s type, namely Pheretima asiatica, Perionyx excavatus, and Lumbricus rubellus. The next one is the laboratory analysis. The data generated from field and laboratory analysis are analyzed and presented systematically in the form of graphs and tables containing the chemical parameter, and the vermicompost quality content of the earthworms. The Perionyx exacavatus, one of the earthworm types that has a better decomposition quality because it is an aggressive type of earthworm, so the quality of the vermicompost that has been produced is also one step above the types of earthworms Pheretima asiatica and Lumbricus rubellus. Keywords: Dung, Earthworm, Vermicompost
