Abstract
Comics have various themes to be turned into a story in it, one of the concepts carried in a comics is about women. One of the comics that contains themes related to woman is “Flawless”, made by Shinshinhye. The comic “Flawless” has a romantic genre in the webtoon platform. However, different from most other romantic genres that only carry the concepts of romance, this comic sharea a storyline that shows how women experience gender-based violance with sentimental visual in chapter 54 and 55 season 4. The method used is Sara Mills’ critical discourse analysis. In this case, the concern for the feminist discourse perspective is how the text represents woman. Tendency to present women as wrong, and marginal compared men. Then the main target in the analysis is the representation of the inequality. The result of this studi are gender- based violence that is discoursed in the online comic webtoon “Flawless”, it’s shown that Maryana’s character experiences gender- based violence, starting from revocation of her basic rights as a woman, sexual violence in the form of rape, as well as verbal and physical violence. In this comic, the woman represented by Maryana are depicted as being oppressed and marginalized. In this comic, it appears that the author wants to convey to the readers how gender-based violence and male power relations in patriarchal practice are still very close and closely related in everday life.
